Jazz Clinch Play-off Spot

The Jazz’s Monday night victory over the New York Knicks clinched for them a spot in the play-offs. That’s the good news, but there is still a lot of work to be done. This victory last night was anything but a sure thing. Although Utah opened the game with the hot hand and racked up 44 points in the first quarter they saw their efficiency erode in the second half of the game. The high shooting percentage they claimed early in the game plummeted after halftime and they struggled to stay barely ahead of a tenacious New York team. Knicks’ forward, Al Harrington, got 26 points and 17 rebounds but it wasn’t enough to stop the Jazz who got a combined 49 points from Deron Williams and Carlos Boozer. The final score was 103-98 with the win positioning the Jazz at the top of the Northwest Division and number 3 in the Western Conference standings. With only seven games remaining in the season there will be a lot of volleying to see who can make it into the top spots for the play-offs.
