Jazz Come Up Short Once Again

Posted by

The Utah Jazz played some pretty good basketball for three-quarters of Saturday nights late game against the Denver Nuggets. Three-quarters was one quarter too little of effort, however and the Jazz fell to the Northwest Division leader 126-113. In fairness, Carmello Anthony did play like a man possessed in that final quarter ending up with a career playoff high of 44 points. The problem is that it seems that in many of the games that the Jazz have lost this year, someone on the opposing team has stepped up and just plain and simple, got the job done. The question is…..where is that person on the Jazz team who comes in like Superman and flies away with the victory? There have been a few ultra exciting and worthy finishes for the team this year (like the one where Sundiata Gaines nailed a miracle 3 pointer to win the game against the Cleveland Cavaliers) but far too many games have been played where it appeared that there was no extra effort given, no sheer will to get the win. Disappointing to say the least. Perhaps it should not be a big surprise that the team fell short once again, especially in light of the huge give away to Phoenix just a few nights earlier which put them in the precarious position of playing their first game in an opponents arena rather than in the safe confines of the ESA. Still,…. it’s hard to see the team you love lose, even when you know they are playing uphill all the way with some of their best players on the bench with injuries. Still……
