What’s Next For The WAC?

The Western Athletic Conference has seen better days for sure. This summer they have taken quite a hit as Boise State and Nevada bolted from the league after verbally committing that they would stay. The WAC intends to make them pay for that breach of promise by forfeited a five million dollar fine. In addition, by law, both teams must remain with the WAC until after the 2011-2012 season even though it is the desire of the two teams to exit a year earlier than that. Meanwhile, the WAC is still left with a much weakened conference and must now find new teams to fill in the gaps for the future. There are six teams besides Boise State and Nevada that make up the conference and they will be very adversely affected with these new changes if the conference does not manage to entice other quality teams.
