Cycling Can Be Both Rugged And Rewarding

Any serious biker will tell you that riding a bike is not for sissies. If you are a committed athlete, biking can be downright grueling. Oh sure, it’s great feeling the breeze across your face when you are sailing downhill and letting gravity do all the work but it is something else entirely when you are heading up that hill and it’s your muscles that are screaming with each pump. And yet, how great it feels when you reach the top of that hill and know the feeling of accomplishment and pleasant fatigue.
Cycling is a lot like life when you think about it. Some of the time you are moving forward at an even clip with no bumps to jar you or unexpected turns which force a quick decision. The going is steady and somewhat predictable (although life truly is never very predictable is it). Sometimes you feel like you are free sailing with nothing to get in your way and slow you down. Things seem to come fairly easily and you feel the wind on your back, pushing you forward.
We all love those moments but recognize that they are fleeting. Enjoy them when they are here because it is a sure thing that they will not last long. Instead you may find yourself in one of those times when it seems like there are nothing but hills on the horizon that must be climbed. It is during those times that you feel that you have to work hard for everything that you get and the effort is downright exhausting. At times you may be tempted to give up, when it seems that you do not possess the energy necessary to continue. When you persevere, however, and finally reach the top again, you know that all the effort was worthwhile and the accomplishment you feel is almost tangible.
